Casual/Part Time Library Page

Library Page required to shelve books, and keep library in good order.  The successful candidate will be responsible for shelf reading in the library, and shelving books. Hours include some weekdays 3pm-6pm and some Saturdays 12-5. Position will be part time one day per week and every other Saturday. Starting ASAP. What is a Library Page?

A library page is a person responsible for organizing and maintaining the physical collection of books and other materials in a library. They are often referred to as library assistants or shelvers.

Example Responsibilities:

  • Shelving Books: Accurately placing books back on the shelves according to the library's cataloging system.

  • Reshelving Returns: Returning borrowed materials to their proper locations.

  • Shelf Reading: Regularly checking shelves for misplaced or damaged books.

  • Book Repair: Minor book repairs, such as mending torn pages or reattaching loose covers.

  • Inventory Control: Assisting with physical inventories of the library's collection.

  • Customer Service: Providing basic assistance to library patrons, such as helping them locate materials or answering questions.
